Body Bronzing:

AFFINITY BODY BRONZING:

Why get a spray-on tan (body bronzing)?

Because you can achieve a natural healthy looking glow without the harmful effects of the sun.

How long does body bronzing last?

It depends on the person’s skin type and activities level.  Typically it last 5 to 7 days (up to 10 for some People) with follow up application the tan can be maintained.

How does it work?

A solution containing DHA is applied to the skin using a fine mist spray machine.  The DHA reacts with amino acids in the cells of the outer layer of the skin, producing a “bronzing” without damaging the skin cells.  As the skin naturally exfoliates the tan will fade.

Is it safe?

YES, we at affinity are all about reinventing you… safely!  We know many people feel healthier with a sun kissed glow on their skin and we would rather see you achieve that glow with body bronzing, rather than lay out in the damaging sun rays. However, if you are pregnant, ask your doctors before scheduling a bronzing appointment.

Can I still get a UV tan in addition to my body bronzing?

Yes, however remember that you should always use sunscreen.

How long should I wait after the application before I can shower or sweat?

It is recommended you wait 8 to 12 hours before you put water on your skin.

How can I minimize exfoliation from hot tubs, swimming pools and the ocean after my tanning session?

After you have waited 8 to 12 hours for your tan to fully develop, you can prevent fading from swimming if you apply a liberal amount of waterproof sunscreen to your skin.

Should I shave before my bronzing session?

Yes, it is best that you shave about 8 hours before the bronzing application.  After your application, be sure to use a new razor because old blades can remove the tanned skin cells if they are dull.

PREPARING FOR BODY BRONZING:

Exfoliate: you should shower and exfoliate prior to bronzing.

Affinity had two separate bronzing packages.  With our full service bronzing package you receive exfoliation and bronzing here at the spa or you can schedule our bronzing only package where you exfoliate at home and come in for just for the bronzing.

Do not moisturize: you want your skin lotion, soap and make-up free.

Shave: It is important that you shave prior to your bronzing, preferably 8 hours prior to your bronzing session.

CERTAIN PRODUCTS SHOULD BE

AVOIDED AFTER BRONZING:

Hair inhibiting lotions or creams, depilatory hair removers or body hair bleaching agents.

Retin-A, Renova, Tri-Luma.  Acne treatments containing benzoyl peroxide, saclicylic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, beta hydroxyl acids.  Products containing alcohol or witch hazel, Microdermabrasion, facial scrubs, masks or strips.  Loofahs, exfoliating products, moisturizer or shower gels that contain petroleum or mineral oil based.
